A Taste of Home

I don’t get homesick very often these days. I’ve been loving life overseas and often feel kind of removed from events in Australia (see my post on the recent election). Even so, the beginning of the wet season in Vancouver, combined with one of the hottest Septembers on record back home, makes me long for lazy beach days, family dinners, and that endless blue sky that stretches as far as you can see (until the intense summer storm hits in the afternoon).

I was lucky enough to go home briefly for a family wedding in late June. Here are some of the beautiful places and faces that make Brisbane “home”.

Even though it was “winter”, Brisbane isn’t exactly known for the cold… but I’ve clearly acclimatized as Mr Midday Musings and I were pretty much the only hardy souls on the beach!

I don’t know when we’ll be back next, but I hope the sun will be shining and our families are just as happy to have us crash as last time!  Until then, I think we’ll need another beach holiday in the interim… Mexico, you’re looking very tempting…
